Type of event: Seminar, Free-of-charge participation, registration required here.

The event targets university students, but also Ph.D. students, researchers, young entrepreneurs, and start-uppers.
The event is thought as a moment of sharing experiences between Universitat Politecnica de Catalugna and Politecnico di Milano to promote IP Rights and the strategic use of IP Rights in the academic context.

Due to the epidemiology emergency, the event was reframed from what was initially foreseen. Giving a continuation to the previous seminar ‘How to valorize an invention?’ the current one is focused on a specific and hot topic: How to protect software-based inventions? In the academic context inventions related to software are recurring and especially young future entrepreneurs are dealing with inventions related to the software.

Mitiga Solutions and Nearby Computing, two Barcelona-based start-ups that will be invited to talk about how they are re-defining data management for natural hazards and smart industries/cities with their software-based solution.

From the perspective of sharing experiences on how to promote intellectual property rights in the academic context, the event shows how young researchers are dealing with software-based inventions in the context of UPC University.
