WIPO has just started a new cycle of publications on the importance and effects of Intellectual Property in the context of creative and cultural industries.

The first publication ‘Batman forever? The economics of overlapping rights’ explores the franchise market linked to the main fantastic characters of comics, film, and videogames such as Batman, Dracula, Spiderman, and many more focusing on the ability of characters’ owners to protect their heroes using also trademarks, in addition to the copyright, traditionally used in the creative and cultural industries.
